This 2.5-hour course on Crisis Management and Safety Planning is designed for mental health professionals seeking to widen their knowledge and skills to proactively identify, assess, and intervene on a variety of conflicts and crises, including the development and use of comprehensive safety planning.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the nature of psychological crisis
- Be able to define and identify risk factors, warning signs, and protective factors associated with crisis situations
- Be familiar with assessment of risk and lethality
- Be prepared to gather data through sequences and context, including antecedents and consequences
- Understand how a Mental Status Examination is conducted
- Be able to label components of safety plans
- Be prepared to develop and implement safety plans
